A Little History Lesson About Texas
Texas declared its independence from Mexico on March 2, 1836...
the Texas Lone Star Flag was adopted on January 24, 1839, and Texas
was admitted to the Union as the 28th state on December 29, 1845.

state flower is
the Bluebonnet (thus our Bluebonnet wallpaper!)...
state bird is the Mockingbird...state tree is the Pecan...
state song is “Texas, Our Texas”...state insect is the Monarch
Butterfly...
and the state gemstone is the Blue Topaz. There are 261,914 square
miles of land...254 counties...22,032 million acres of forested
area...
the 2000 U.S. Census Bureau counted 20,851,820 people
living in Texas…
